There are 35 years between 4 November 1979 and 20 January 1981, 52 American diplomats and civilians were held hostage by Iranian students in the Embassy of the United States. An action which resulted in a major crisis and a real trauma in the United States.
Yet six diplomats managed to escape the hostage and the CIA mounted a crazy and incredible rescue operation to rescue them. A now familiar operation was also told in a film "Argo" signed Ben Affleck. An Oscar winner in 2013.
On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of this operation, the CIA decided - like Antoine Krempf France Info - to unravel the "True False" and "factchecker" the film: "We love Ben Affleck's Oscar-winning film in 2013 but today we reveal what is the truth and fiction. "
In fact, says the CIA, "five of them have used many different caches" and the sixth "slept on the ground in the Swedish Embassy" before they were reunited with the Canadian Ambassador split .
In the film, during boarding, Iranians reconstruct shredded documents and the face of an American appears. Resulting in a chase. False In fact, Iranian reconstructed documents were shredded, but no faces appeared. And there have been no prosecutions. "Apart from a delay of one hour to a mechanical problem, the escape took place perfectly."
