Yesterday and today going one of the largest matbegivenheterna out at Stockholm International Fairs, namely Bocouse D'Or Europe. General whitewashed hasta la vista cook-em. Bocouse D'Or is the world's most prestigious cooking competition. hasta la vista 20 European countries are participating, 12 of whom go on to the Chef's Cup, the Bocuse d'Or 2015 in Lyon. 10 countries will compete on day one and ten day two. I was there yesterday, watched the opening hasta la vista ceremony, then stood fascinated and watched how focused everyone hasta la vista was in their kitchen, how good they were, how well they worked and how good it smelled! Mathias Dahlgren is the only Swede who has won the prestigious competition is elected honorary president and ultimately hasta la vista responsible for the ongoing competition out there at the show.
The participants are to five hours and 35 minutes to cook a fish dish and a meat dish each for 14 people. Fish raw material is pollock, oysters and mussels from Grebbestad from Mollosund. While looking at the show in progress Gastro and Vinordic I swung by a quickie. MY GOD! There I had been able to walk for hours. There was so much food and treats in every corner that you had to eat and it was not scrap, I'm talking hasta la vista about. There was everything from food to treats. Should I list everything I ate, you would think that I am exaggerating, but I really went all-in. At first, I took lot of cards, but I gave up then because I got and bought home with me so many nice stuff and ate so much that I gave up fotandet.
A selection of what I ate was lot of different meats (sausages, cheeses, meats), olives, vegetables, three different mini burgers (a vegetarian made with beans, a pulled pork burger, a schnitzel burger), meatballs, halloumi, ceviche, salmon with algae, three different oysters, hasta la vista hot and cold-filled sandwiches, galette, chocolate pralines, two pastries, two desserts made of reigning dessert champions, hasta la vista muffins, hasta la vista a piece of donut, various pastries, I do not remember what they were called, French waffle, and more. So crazy. And there was so much more but time and the stomach was not enough.
